The purpose of this course is to provide students the opportunity to acquire an understanding of the American legal process. Appropriate concepts and skills will be developed in connection with the content that follows: an understanding of the study of historical antecedents for law, constitutional guarantees of citizens, different kinds of laws, comparison of adult and juvenile justice systems, the value of law in society, the role of law enforcement officials, and the importance of the adversarial relations.
