Introduces mechanical function of equipment used in continuous and intermittent ventilation of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. Indications, contraindications, and hazards of continuous ventilation with significance given to ventilatory management and monitoring techniques. Accompanying the lectures will be a hands-on laboratory experience designed to prepare students for actual clinical situations. Lab fee required. Prerequisite or corequisite: RET 1874L.
