This course addresses the unique biopsychosocial health and illness needs of the childbearing and pediatric populations. Common alterations in the childbearing and childrearing processes will be discussed which will enable the student to recognize complications and implement appropriate interventions of a beginning level practitioner. Emphasis will be placed on exploring strategies that assist the childbearing family, children and caretakers to prevent and/or minimize the effects of illness and disability, and to promote, maintain, and restore health. Theory, clinical practice and selected simulation exercises will be utilized to meet the course objectives. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: NUR 2240C and NUR 2520C with grades of C or better. Corequisite: NUR 2251C with grade of C or better if completed.
