Topics include a comparison of the neoclassical theories of marginal utility and marginal productivity with the Marxist theories of labor value and surplus value. Students will examine the growth of monopolies and government response to monopolies, the distribution of wealth and income, poverty, and the economic origins and implications of racism. (Fulfills Social Science requirement.)
