Awareness of and sensitivity to one's self and to others are seen as determinants of how and why we speak and l isten to one another. So too, interpersonal communication skills are vital and necessary tools in forging and maintaining personal relationships, as well as contributing to effectiveness in the workplace and in the community. As America diversifies and participates in the global marketplace excellent communication skills are increasingly important for professional careers in any field as well as for a more fulfilling life.
