Offers an overview of the western philosophic tradition, including topics such as logic, metaphysics, epistemology, theology, ethics, freedom and justice. Students examine recognized philosophers' classic theories, explanations and arguments relating to each topic. Students are encouraged to analyze and critique each philosopher's position. Emphasis is placed on examining one'sown views, confronting alternative views and developing an understanding of one's own beliefs and of their relationship to the world.
