[8 Credits - 165 Contact Hours - Didactic 105 hours (Blended online/classroom) Lab 60 hours] Prerequisites: Admission to Nursing Program, Florida licensure as LPN. LPN experience within past 2 years. This course is the first of two bridge courses that builds upon the Licensed Practical Nurse's education and readiness to advance into the Associate Degree program. In this course, students learn to differentiate between the roles of the practical and associate degree nurse. Didactic and lab application focuses on basic nursing care and skills used by professional nurses. Learners explore interventions used to assist adult patients adapt to illness or injury. Students explore caring and non-caring behaviors in others and self to articulate ways to improve communication and nursing care. Students apply the nursing process by developing and implementing a standard plan of care.
