UC, CSU Prerequisite: None. This course will examine communication patterns and differences existing between males and females. Gender and communication will integrate theory and practice and heighten student's awareness of the importance of gender as a communication variable. Communication problems relating to gender are addressed with emphasis on listening, perception, verbal and nonverbal communication in interpersonal, small group and public settings. Assertiveness and conflict management styles will also be addressed as they are reflected in male and female communication. 54 hours lecture.
