UC, CSU Prerequisite: None. Advisory: SPE-52 or qualification for ENG-1A. Limitation on enrollment: Enrollment in the Honors Program. Analyzes the dynamics of the two-person communication process in relationships. Students study values, communication models, listening, verbal and nonverbal communication, perception, self-concept, self-disclosure, management of emotions, relationship theories and conflict resolution. Honors course offers an enriched experience for accelerated students through limited class size; seminar format; focus on primary texts; and application of higher level critical thinking skills. Students may not receive credit for both SPE-9 and SPE-9H. 54 hours lecture.
