UC*, CSU Prerequisite: None. Advisory: It is recommended that the student demonstrate a proficiency in swimming 50 yards and being able to float on the front and back or have successfully completed PHP-A28. The intermediate course is designed to provide the student with a review of the skills learned in beginning swimming classes, in addition to teaching new skills and strokes. Emphasis is placed on intermediate techniques and on diving. Endurance swimming is encouraged and the swimmer is given time to do distance swims. Recreational activities on an individual and team oriented level are encouraged. Subsequent enrollment in additional semester will provide the student an opportunity for added skill and competency development within each activity area. Enrollment is limited to four times within the swimming area. 54 hours laboratory.
