Prerequisite: NVN-50. Limitation on enrollment: Admission to the full-time or part-time Vocational Nursing Program. Introductory course on health and its deviations as a foundation for the practice of vocational nursing. Beginning concepts of microbiology are applied. The responses of the body to diseases which affect basic human needs are discussed in terms of common symptoms of illness, respiratory and circulatory disturbances, fluid and electrolytes, congenital, degenerative, allergic, and immune processes. Essentials of nutrition throughout the life cycle and an introduction to diet therapy are studied. 54 hours lecture.
