UC, CSU ( CAN JAPN 10) Prerequisite: JPN-3. Further development of intermediate skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing. A review of the vocabulary, structures and grammatical patterns necessary for comprehension of standard spoken and written Japanese at the intermediate level. An emphasis on the reading of novels, short stories, poems and plays in Japanese as a means of enhancing basic Japanese language skills. This course includes an expanded discussion of Japanese culture and daily life. 90 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory.
