Prerequisite: None. This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to perform, under minimal supervision, basic and essential honor guard drill and funeral management. These shall include basic military drill, ceremonial skills, history of honor and color guards, funeral types and options, pre-funeral preparations, flag etiquette, church and casket procedures and a basic knowledge of the Incident Command System. In addition, students will learn to use, inspect and maintain various types of fire fighting and rescue equipment for ceremonial details. Completion of this course satisfies the manipulative and academic training requirements for the public safety honor guard academy. 18 hours lecture and 30 hours laboratory.
