Prerequisite: None. Emphasizes elementary competency in standard written English with a focus on basic writing and grammar skills. Instruction will also include vocabulary and reading skills necessary for success in basic English as a Second Language courses. Subsequent enrollment in an additional semester will provide the student with an opportunity for continued skills and competency development within the level and subject matter. May be taken two times. 72 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory. (Non-degree credit course. Pass/No Pass only.)
