UC, CSU ( CAN ENGL 6) Prerequisite: ENG-1A. Studies in fundamental principles and practice of writing fiction and poetry. Lectures and discussions emphasize analysis of professional examples of creative writing and study of creative writing theory. In-class workshops provide practice in creative writing techniques. In-class and out-of-class class writing assignments provide practice in writing techniques and in peer- and self-analysis. Subsequent enrollment in an additional semester affords students opportunity for further development of fiction and poetry projects, as well as further development of creative writing and analysis skills and techniques. This course may be taken a total of two times. 54 hours lecture. (Letter Grade, or Pass/No Pass option.)
