UC, CSU Prerequisite: ENG-50 or qualifying preparation score. Limitation on enrollment: Enrollment in the Honors Program. Emphasizes and develops skills in critical reading and academic writing. Reading and writing assignments include exposition, argumentation, and academic research. Students will write a minimum of 10,000 words. Honors course offers an enriched experience for accelerated students through limited class size; seminar format; focus on primary texts; and application of higher level critical thinking skills. Students may not receive credit for both ENG-1A and ENG-1AH. Classroom instruction integrates Writing and Reading Center activities. 72 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory. (Letter Grade only.)
