CSU Prerequisite: None. This course is an introduction to the common and uncommon stresses of childhood and the short-and long-term effects it has on a child's development. The many needs and issues of children and families make child development programs challenging as well as rewarding. When exceptional stress and trauma get added into the picture, life can feel overwhelming for everyone involved. This course is designed to develop an understanding of how children react and adapt to stress and trauma as a form of survival. Outside observations required. 54 hours lecture.
