UC, CSU Prerequisite: None. This is the first course en route to teaching as a profession. In addition to an introduction to the history of public education, the following topics are covered within the context of a multicultural/multilingual classroom: motivation, lesson design, teaching strategies, discipline and management and professionalism. A required guided observation of class components in the elementary and secondary schools is based on these last five areas. 54 hours lecture.
