Prerequisite: None. Limitation on enrollment: Enrollment in the Dental Assistant Program. This course is designed to meet the state and national accreditation requirements for an approved Dental Assistant Program. The course introduces the student to the practice and history of dentistry including dental specialties, legal responsibilities and roles of the dental auxiliary, ethical decision making, dental terminology, dental charting, dental equipment, instrument identification, patient communication skills, and the provision of oral hygiene instructions. 54 hours lecture and 54 hours laboratory.
