UC*, CSU Prerequisite: None. This course concentrates on developing basic skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing. Emphasis is placed on acquisition of vocabulary, structures and grammatical patterns necessary for native spoken and written Mandarin Chinese at the beginning level. This course includes discussion of Chinese culture and daily life. 90 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory.
