Prerequisite: None. This course is designed to provide an orientation to the role, responsibilities, and resources of the probation officer; to teach basic skills required in performances of the job; and to provide an orientation to the criminal justice system. This is an introductory course for entry level probation officers which meets the requirements of the Standards and Training for Local Corrections and Probation Officer Program. 160 hours lecture and 16 hours laboratory.
