Description:
A foundational course in the basics of music theory, sight-singing, ear training, dictation and music listening. Emphasis will be placed on mastery of the essentials of music knowledge through conceptual development, drill and application. Topics will be note names, clefs, rhythm, meter, intervals, triads, major and minor scales. Aural skills will be developed through singing in solfège and rhythmic counting. This course is suggested for intended music majors who have not successful completed the music entrance exam. This course does not fulfill a degree requirement for music majors or minors. The course is open to other majors as an elective.
