Prerequisite: CHEM 122 (grade of “C” or better). The basic theoretical concepts and laboratory techniques of radioactivity required in all areas of natural science are presented. The major modes of radioactivity decay, health physics, radiation detection, and activity calculations are stressed. Special topics in chemistry, biology, and physics are discussed depending on the student’s major. Lecture 3 hours.
