3 Credits Interactions of radiation with matter and biological effects associated with the use of ionizing radiation are presented. Focus is on radiation safety of patients and personnel based on the ALARA concept NCRP recommendations and NRC and COMAR regulations. Health implications to present and future generations, radiosensitivity, and manifestation and treatment of radiation sickness are discussed. Prerequisites: RAD 1550. RAD 2410 and RAD 2530 concurrent. (Offered fall semester only)
