7 Credits This course introduces students to concepts about the individual, environment, health, nursing and the learning process. The acquired knowledge enables students to effectively meet patient needs across the lifespan. Introduction of nursing theory and practice that supports a safe, effective care environment, physiological and psychological integrity, as well as health promotion are emphasized. Guided practice in various health care settings is correlated with classroom and campus lab experiences. Prerequisites: NUR 1000 or NUR 1010, PSY 1010, BIO 2060, BIO 2010 completed or concurrent, admission into the nursing program (LPN or RN). 15 weeks/3.5 class/10 clinical/2 lab hours.
