3 Credits This is an introductory course with a focus on preparing the student for the rigorous study required for clinical nursing courses. The patient-needs framework and nursing process concepts form the basis of the curriculum. Microbiology concepts related to nursing practices will be mastered by the students. Nursing history, dosage calculations, ethical and legal concepts, critical thinking and test-taking skills are content areas for this course. The student will be introduced to the socialization process of practical nurses. Upon satisfactory completion of this course and other prerequisites the student is eligible to petition for admission into the Practical Nursing Program. Prerequisites: EGL 1010, BIO 2050, placement for college level algebra, officially enrolled as an LPN petitioner, BIO 2060 and PSY 1010 concurrent. 3 class hours. (Offered spring only)
