3 Credits Intended for elementary in-service teachers and career changers. It introduces students to a variety of materials to be used for the purposes of developing phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Students will learn to select and evaluate materials as well as utilize the expertise of parents and other members of the community to help fulfill goals of the reading program. Prerequisite: In-service teacher or departmental approval.
