Credits: 3 (3-0) Prerequisite(s): ENG 122 or ENG 125 Focuses on translated works of contemporary Hispanic Literature written in Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean. Introduces students to the reading and interpretation of outstanding Hispanic writers from the Generation of '98 in Spain and from Modernism in Spanish America to the present. Pursues various genres within prose, drama and poetry. Major literary trends will be studied: modernism, "criollismo," fantastic realism, magicalrealism, existentialism, neorealism, post-modernism and feminist literature, among others. (Taught in English). This course does not fulfill the foreign language requirement.
