Credits: 6 (3-12) Prerequisite(s): BIO 118; CHM 118; ENG 122; MAT 108; MED 102 and written permission of the department chairperson Basic medical terminology, organization of hospital laboratories and rules of ethical behavior. Stresses the practical side of basic laboratory work in the areas of specimen collection, hematology, urinalysis, blood banking, serology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, quality control, etc. Includes on-the-job education in laboratory work. Students supervised by medical technologists and specialists. May not be audited. An eight week, 40 hours a week, summer clinical experience.
