Making Things Happen - The course will examine and define the nature of social change and how to effectively address social issues. It will present some of the major tactics strategies that have been utilized in bringing about change such as the legislative process, coalition building, confrontation, and the use of the media. The course will analyze some of the major social movements in the United States, including the Civil Rights and Women's Movements, and how they influenced social policy and social change. Prerequisite: Placement above or successful completion of ENG 060 (EN 2103), eligible for ENG 101 (EN 1103). Recommendation: Concurrent enrollment in ENG 075 (EN 2122) or ENG 085 (EN 2131) if CPT reading placement is between 68 and 75 General Education Electives: Behavioral Science
