The first in a two-semester algebra/trigonometry based physics sequence. Emphasis is placed on understanding through problem solving. Topics include the metric system, kinematics, Newton's laws, momentum, energy, power, rotation, buoyancy and heat 3 hours lecture/2 hours laboratory Prerequisite: Placement above or successful completion of ENG 060 (EN 2103), high school trigonometry or eligibility for precalculus (MAT 180 (MA 1107), MAT 185 (MA 1108) or MAT 189 (MA 1109)). Recommendation: Concurrent enrollment in ENG 075 (EN 2122) or ENG 085 (EN 2131) if CPT reading placement test is between 68 and 75. General Education Electives: Science
