This course covers the fundamentals of modern digital and data communications systems, such as sampling, coding, decoding, digital transmission/reception, digital modulation and demodulation, digital multiplexing, satellite links, and multiple accessing. Different media are explored, including cable, atmospheric and optical fiber communications. Employability skills, such as problem solving, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking are integrated into the coursework. 2 hours lecture/2 hours laboratory. Prerequisite: Completion of NST 1101 (CN 1101) and NST 111 (CN 1111) and completion of TMA 096 (MA 3109) with a grade of C or better.
