An examination of the psychological factors which affect physical and mental health and illness. This course will utilize a biopsychosocial approach to understand the psychological, emotional, social and behavioral factors related to health and wellness. Issues such as stress and its management, cognitive factors in relation to health, the mind-body connection, patient responses to chronic and acute illness will be studied. Prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental illness will be explored through recent research and case studies. Prerequisite: PSY 101 (SO 5101) Prerequisite for Honors Credit: 12 credits with a GPA of 3.2 and completion of ENG 101 (EN 1103) or permission of instructor.
