The first in a series of two calculus-based physics courses for students planning to transfer to an engineering or physical science baccalaureate program. Emphasis is placed on understanding through problem solving. Topics include the SI system; kinematics in one, two and three dimensions; Newton's laws of motion; friction, circular motion, conservation of energy and momentum, and oscillations. 3 hours lecture/ 3 hours laboratory. Prerequisite: Successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in MAT 290 (MA 1125). Recommendation: Previous high school or college physics is strongly recommended General Education Electives: Science
