Through history, writers have been fascinated by criminal acts, those who commit them and those who bring wrong doers to justice. This course is a survey of literature exploring the criminal mind and society's response to criminal acts and will consider topics such as the causes of crime, the motivations of criminals and crime fighters, rationales for punishment and the desire for redemption. A variety of literary genres will be covered including true crime, fiction and non-fiction. Prerequisites: Placement above or successful completion of ENG 060 (EN 2103) and ENG 101 (EN 1103).
