Designed for students who, although they may understand what they read, need to refine their skills. The primary focus of the course is on learning to read analytically and critically. Attention is given to fluency, retention, and the development of higher level reading and critical thinking skills. This course may be taken in a traditional classroom setting or on a self-paced basis through the Self-Paced Learning Center. Credits earned in this course will apply to MCC career and certificate programs, but will not be accepted in the following transfer programs: Business Administration Transfer, Business Education Transfer, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences Concentrations (Communications, Fine and Performing Arts, Life Science, Physical Science), Computer Science Transfer, Engineering Science Transfer. Prerequisite: Placement above or successful completion of ENG 060 (EN 2103). Recommendation: Recommended for students scoring from 68 to 75 on the CPT reading placement test.
