Introduction to the dental office through pre-clinical instruction and an outside clinical experience in a local dental office. During the pre-clinical component, students are introduced to basic dental assisting responsibilities such as seating the patient, instrument transfer and procedural set-ups, sterilization concepts, and infection control. During the clinical component, students are required to assist chairside in a variety of procedures at local general practice dental offices. 6 hours per week.
