Designed for students with little or no background in biology. Emphasis is placed upon strengthening oral and written communication, organizational techniques, basic laboratory skills, and logical thinking and problem solving. Topics include the scientific method of inquiry, the importance of biology in our everyday lives, and a survey of the basic characteristics exhibited by all living organisms. 3 hours lecture/2 hours laboratory Prerequisite: MAT 060 (MA 1101) and eligibility for ENG 101 (EN 1103) and ENG 060 (EN 2103). Recommendation: Concurrent enrollment in ENG 075 (EN 2122) or ENG 085 (EN 2131) if CPT reading placement test is between 68 and 75. General Education Electives: Science
