An introductory course in the physics of motion, heat, sound, electricity, magnetism, light, optics, and the theory of the atom. A process oriented laboratory approach emphasizing exploration and problem solving. This course is intended for nonscience majors, or for students who need only one semester of physics. Students with credit for high school physics should elect PHY*121 or PHY*221. Scientific calculator required. Class meets 5 hours per week for integrated lecture and laboratory. Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in MAT*095or placement or completion of a higher-level math course.
