(Formerly ART 115) An introduction to casting techniques: the primitive techniques such as coal casting, drop casting, cuttlebone casting that are used in less developed countries, as well as the sophisticated technique of lost-wax casting; students will learn how to carve wax, make temporary molds, and ultimately spin molten metal, translating their wax patterns into finished pieces of jewelry. Some materials and tools to be provided by the student which will cost about $50.
