This course will emphasize reading and analyzing Haitian-Creole literature in a historical context. A variety of literature will be read and discussed in order to gain an understanding of Haitian-Creole and Haitian culture, the history of Haiti, and ways which the literature portrays the country of Haiti and its inhabitants. Prerequisite: Fluency in Haitian-Creole as determined by the Haitian-Creole placement exam. (3 hour lecture)
