This course is an introductory study of the distribution and determinants of communicable diseases and chronic. Measures of morbidity and mortality are reviewed and the concept of risk factors are discussed by looking at how disease is distributed in a population by person, place and time factors. Various types of research methodologies employed by epidemiologists are examined. Some common childhood and adolescent communicable diseases are reviewed. Prerequisites: HLTH 307 Biostatistics; HLTH 401 Introduction to Public Health; HLTH 433 Seminar in Health Sciences
