A seminar on basic songwriting techniques and concepts. The craft of developing a well-written, memorable, and appealing song is explored and practiced with regard to lyrical, melodic, rhythmic, harmonic, and structural considerations. Examples of musically sound notation practices through lead sheets, and filing for copyright registration are also covered. Prerequisite: MUS 099 or permission of instructor. 3 credits. (Fall)
