A foundation course in fundamental visual communication techniques employed by designers to illustrate and explore concepts as well as to communicate to colleagues, clients, trades people, and construction contractors. Freehand and mechanical drawing techniques are employed to produce scaled drawings and models. The body of knowledge known as pictorial drawing is covered, including the topics: perspective, paraline, orthographic (also known as axonometric), and oblique as well as techniques for producing monochromatic renderings. Distinctions are made between design process work, client presentation work, construction drawings (contract documents), and shop drawings. Requires a grade of C or above for successful completion. 3 credits (Fall)
