Focus is on developing skills related to the principles and methods of draping. Application of principles with draping techniques is stressed. Essential techniques in design projects are emphasized. Design and fabric are analyzed to insure development of knowledge and confidence in progressing from basic garments to advanced projects. Muslins, grain line placement, draping steps, trueing the muslin pattern, fitting analysis and corrections, and the final paper pattern are included. Skills are applied to various aspects of garments from the basic dress foundation to shirts, blouses, skirts, pants and jackets. Vocabulary related to draping is explored. A studio course. Prerequisite: FDM 110, 211 and 218.
