A survey course for students interested in the basics of chemistry from a descriptive point of view.Topics include matter, properties of families of compounds and their characteristic compounds, mixtures, acids and bases, chemical reactions, introductory biochemistry, and environmental effect of chemistry.This course could be the basis for coursework in selected technical areas but is not a substitute for CHE 111, 112. Prereq: COL 090, ENG 090 and MAT 090 or satisfactory test scores
