Students will critically examine theories of child development in the physical, intellectual and social-emotional areas as they pertain to the various ages and stages in a child's life from the prenatal development through adolescence. Practices in care giving, teaching, parenting that derive from diverse cultural and theoretical perspectives will be analyzed. Students will learn to observe and assess children's development and gain insight into the impact of culture on the process of socialization. 54 lecture hours. CSU;UC
