This is the third in a sequence of four nursing courses, which builds on previously acquired skills and knowledge. The focus is on chronic health problems across the life span related to the physiological and psychosocial needs of the client within the legal and ethical parameters of the nursing profession. (9 cr. hrs.) (Fall). Prerequisites: NURS 1500; SCIN 1010-1020 with grades of C+ or higher; CPR certification through American Heart Association course "Health Care Provider" or American RedCross "Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer," and an updated health form must be maintained throughout the program. Grades of C or higher are required in BIOL 2020-2030 and either BIOL 2010 or CHEM 1010, 1020, 1510, alternative science courses that meet program requirements. General Assembly Session (4 hrs./wk.), Small Assembly Sessions (2 hrs./wk.), hospital laboratory (11 hrs./wk.). Labs can be assigned during day, evening and/or weekend hours. During planned mental health/community experiences, lab times may change. Some Internet/WebCT assignments are required in the course. A grade of C or higher is required to continue in the program; satisfactory and safe performance in the lab is required to pass the course. Health insurance is required. Liability insurance, lab fee, testing fee and course fee. A required orientation will be held prior to the start of the semester.
