Prerequisites: BIO 121 and 122 or BIO 123 or BIO 180 and BIO 181. And CHM 117 or CHM 125 and 126, or CHM 106 and 107 LEC 3 hrs., LAB 3 hrs., Course fee $60 A study of mammalian body function with special emphasis on membrane transport, electrophysiology of nerve and muscle cells, acid-base balance and control of organ systems. Systems emphasized include muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary and reproductive. Laboratory experiments are designed to supplement the lecture and introduce the students to instruments and techniques used in research and clinical laboratories. Dissection is required as part of the laboratory syllabus. Open to all science majors.
