LEC 3 hrs., LAB 0 hrs. A practical working approach to the mechanics of the stock and bond markets is undertaken. Other topics studied include: time value of money, general economics, role of the Federal Reserve System, investment related income tax laws, financial ratio analysis, technical and fundamental analysis, preferred stock, U.S. Treasury obligations, mutual funds, collectables, and the art of portfolio management. The course objective is to develop the average student into an independently sophisticated minded investor.
